August has been a very busy month for our car club members. A lot of car shows attended, a lot of trophies won, a lot of good conversations, a lot of great times. As we say good bye to August, we wonder what September activities are on our horizon.
August 26 – Matt S won a trophy for his Power Wagon. Good Job Matt!!! Steve & Karen took their beautiful 1954 Ford Victoria Glass Top to the Joseph Car Show. They were presented with “King of the Mountain” trophy which is the Best of Show. Congratulations Steve & Karen!!!!

August 24 – Three of our members, Richard, Alan B, and Arlan displayed their cars to help promote a local business, Nature’s Pantry, celebrate their 37 years in business.
August 19 – Fifteen of our members heading over to Baker City to attend their Show & Shine car show. Those attending were: Matt & Nancy, Steve & Karen, Alan B, Ed & Dixie, John & Deb, Jim & Sally, Jerry, Don, Robert & Donna. Two of our members received an award. Richard & Debby won the “Coolest Moonshine Runner” and Matt & Nancy won “Coolest 40’s Vehicle”. Congratulations to our winners!!! Unfortunately, we didn’t a photo of Matt & Nancy. Richard & Debby’s trophy is shown below.






August 16 – Even though it was a very hot day, sixteen of our club members met at Walmart to drive out together to get lunch at Caez’s Drive-In located in Elgin. Members who went are: Richard & Debby, Ed & Dixie, Arlan & Mary Ann, Jim & Sally, Steve O & Kathy, Gary & Uan, Steve E & Karen, and our newest member Alan & Kathy. We took our lunches to the park and had a pleasant afternoon with a lot of great conversations.






August 12 – There were many car show to tempt our club members this weekend. Four of our members, Steve & Karen and Arlan & Mary Ann choose to attend the “Cruise the Gorge” car show in The Dalles. Only Steve & Karen came out winners though – they won their class.


There were about fourteen members who chose to go to Union for their car show. Most of their cars won a sponsors award. Award winners were: Richard & Debby won the “Associated Design & Engineering” for the 1940 Coupe; Jim won the “Union Mercantile” for his 1958 Chev; Salley won the “Craigs Antiques” for her 1968 Ford Fairlane; Alan B won “Union County Chamber” for his 1955 Chevy PU; Don won “Rattler Coffee Shop” for his 1966 Ford Convertible; Doug & Diane won “Union Market” for their 1973 Mach 1 Mustang and “CTB Performance LLC” for their Ford PU; Gary won an award for their 1967 Mustang; Alan F won “Old West Federal Credit Union”. There were other club members (Margaret, Daniel, Jerry, Mel, Steve & Kathy) but they never told me if they won or not. Ed Lund was the luckiest of all; he was awarded the “King of the Show” for his 1955 Chevy Malibu and look at that trophy!!!



August 5 – Eleven of our members, Richard & Debby, Ed & Dixie, Matt & Nancy, Jerry, Doug & Diane, and Arlan & Mary Ann. brought their classic cars to the Union County Fair Parade where we took 2nd place in our division.
August 3 – Our club was asked by Blue Mountain Outfitters to bring our cars downtown and park by their businesses during the August Chamber of Commerce’s Sip & Shop night on August 3. These event happened to coincide with Economic Summit which was a state wide event. We had twelve of our members bring their classics down: Richard & Debby, Daniel, Jerry, Jason, Margaret, Jim & Sally, Doug & Diane, and Arlan & Mary Ann.
